To celebrate Grandma's four-score milestone birthday, Kathy, Kristin and Leroy joined her at Lynette's house in Missouri for a weekend.

We took in a show (West Side Story at Starlight Theater - 6000 people fanning themselves against the still, 100 degree heat!!) We did some sight-seeing, visiting Hallmark, Union Station and the Norman Rockwell exhibit,  Pleasant Hill with it's wood carving shops, cookie jar collecting shop, Feed Store and the Depot shop where Lynette tries to sell her jewelry.

We ate lunch at Laura and Aaron's new place.  Had lots of fresh Iowa sweet corn  and cucumbers (from Kristin) and wonderful tomatoes (from Kathy, raised by Allan), and home-made salsa (from Leroy).

We worshiped and communed together at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hill. We played Scrabble and Yahtzee, took lots of pictures and made Grandma open a huge pile of gifts from all her grandchildren.

It was really hot the whole weekend but we are descended from hearty stock and managed just fine. Thanks to everyone who sent photos and gifts. Everything will be used to refurnish Grandma's guest room in a cool, nautical theme designed by Kristin, who also wrapped all the gifts.
